About the director:
My name is Nancy Clark, and I welcome you to Building Blocks Family Daycare!  I started my career with young children 34 years ago when I was afforded the opportunity to help teach special education preschoolers.  I began working at Silvercrest Child Development Center, a new and innovative project which was the brainchild of then Governor Otis Bowen.
This was in the early 70’s, just after public law 94-142 had been enacted.  This law assured every child, regardless of their special needs, would be afforded a public education in their home school district.  This law came at a time when many districts would not allow special needs children to attend public schools.
I worked with special needs children of pre-school age who came from all over the State to attend this exciting and new residential facility.  I worked as part of a team who developed an Individualized Education Plan for each child.  Once an IEP was established, we trained their home school on implementation.  I worked at Silvercrest for eight years.
When my daughter was born just 19 months behind her brother, quality infant childcare was nonexistent in our area and their grandma could not care for two infants.  I decided to use my early childhood education experience to start a family childcare.  My program assured me that my children and the children I cared for could grow and thrive in a safe, quality environment while I continued my career in early childhood education.
Thirty four years and countless children later, I am still in love with the childcare profession.  Each day brings new and interesting challenges.  I have met and worked with so many wonderful families during my long career and I cherish all of the memories of the children who have come through my doors.  My goal is to continue to promote quality care for the children of the families I serve as long as The Good Lord permits!
My program has continued to grow and evolve over the years into an excellent high quality program for the children of Southern Indiana.  I have recently joined the voluntary "Paths To Quality" program initiated by the State of Indiana.  This program encourages providers to go far above and beyond State minimum standards to ensure your child will receive high quality, developmentally appropriate child care.  I am currently renewing my Child Development Associate degree, and am on the path to National Accreditation, which will bring my child care to a Level 4 Paths center by the end of 2009.  I love my job and the children and families I serve.  I am constantly looking for ways to improve the service I give and the quality of developmentally appropriate care I give your child.  If you are looking for a loving, safe, caring, and educational environment in which your child can grow and thrive, please consider Building Blocks Family Daycare for your childcare needs.  Together we can build the future, one child at a time.
